Today's 4-Mile Tracking

I wnted to get in at least a few miles on the trike today, but I get tired of leaving the lap-dogs behind.
I've towed them in the trailer before, so I'm not sure why I haven't done it more often, except maybe for pure absent-mindedness.  The trailer is quite easy to pull and the doggies weigh less than the trailer they ride in.
So I loaded all three of us into the Ford Exploder and off we went down the goat path to the pavement of Frost Road to saddle up on the trike.

We're in process of evacuating our house in order to sell it, and still have some heavy hauling to do to get all the good stuff (that won't fit in the no-slideout RV) into our storage cubicle.  Thus my desire to shorten the ride today so I could make more trips to the storage unit with the trailer full of moving stuff instead of trike paraphernalia.

So we only did barely over 4 miles today.  The weather was sunny and not that cold, but the wind was blowing pretty stiff toward the east, as seen from the whipping flagtennas in the picture.  So much that I was reluctant to go very far east since this wind would be a stiff headwind in our faces on the way back.
So now it's away to the piles of moving boxes  we need hauled over to the storage unit....

Friday Tracking In the Bosque

We wanted to do our typical joint Friday Tandem Terratrike ride but debated on whether it was worth a 30+ mile trip to ride the tree filled beauty of the Bosque Trail or suck it up and do a hilly up 'n down ride around here closer to home.
Since we had a lengthy list of stuff we needed from WalMart , we decided to combine the trip and get in a few miles along the Rio Grande and then blow our cash at the Big Box Store.
We got rolling an hour or more earlier than we usually do.
Our newly-discovered red-gravel trails were fairly populated with bikers, walkers, other dogs, and families with squealing little kids, all fun to encounter except for one or two who couldn't be bothered to smile or say "HI".  The kiddos were especially enamored with Tink and Lilly riding in the plastic milk crate dog-perch on the back of the trike behind Jacque. Fun.

We only made about 4-something miles when we decided we were hungry enough to interrupt the trip and skedaddle back toward the Old Town area for some expensive but yummy Southwestern cuisine.
When we got there, we were surprised at the lack of crowds AND the lowered pricing on the food available.  The last time we were there the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta was in full swing, which obviously helped increase the crowds AND prices.

Our meal prices this Friday were several dollars cheaper apiece.  We had their Taco Plate meals. Jacque chose chicken and I chose ground beef, and both of us loved the food.  Total cost about 24 bucks including drinks and tip.  Even skinflint Jim (Your Modest Author) found no fault with these prices.
Several people in the Plaza asked if they could take our picture, which we (of course graciously) allowed.  We often joke that if we charged $5 a pop for such photo ops we would either be bothered less OR make enough money to pay for our meals during these jaunts.
By now it was approaching 3-something PM and we needed to get started on our shopping so we rode back to the Exploder/trailer  combination with full tummies.
When we stopped at the dinosaur-powered vehicles we were mildly surprised to see we had accomplished 10 miles for this modest ride.
