Quick Tracking to our Sliver of California
Since we vacated our house and moved into the RV I have found it difficult to keep up this blog.
We have parked the RV all over the place and ridden the trikes but much of the rides have been undocumented.
We've spent RV nights in Socorro NM, Roswell NM, Artesia NM, White's City NM, Las Cruces NM, Casa Grande AZ, and now for almost 3 weeks near Imperial Dam, on the CA side of the Colorado River just north of Yuma AZ. Out here on low-cost BLM land, we've been dry camping without external hookups for water, electricity, and sewer. Which means I've had to replace our tired deep cycle batteries, repair bad solar panel connections, and run the generator a lot.
Our BLM spot has fresh drinking water available, sewer dumping stations, trash dumpsters, but NO electricity. So we run the generator a lot, and make trips of about half a mile to the dump station about once a week.
Hauling 2 or 3 bags of trash daily is a fair excuse to ride the trike over there and back.
Yesterday we both rode down the very bumpy road, paved and otherwise, to the actual Imperial Dam location. It turns out to have a nice grassy picnic and camping area (3 day limit) right at the dam's edge. Only about 3 miles away and a nice (if bumpy) bike ride.
We make runs to Yuma for ice and groceries every other day or so, and found a nice dancing club with a live band playing good old country and western dance tunes. Very fun.
